Be Moved by Film - Open Air Cinema - Friday 17 September & Saturday 18 September (Free) On Friday, enjoy the timeless classic Dirty Dancing as we invite you to join Frances 'Baby' Houseman and Johnny Castle on a toe tapping, dance filled adventure. 1960s dresses and shiny dancing shoes are positively encouraged. This screening marks the one year anniversary of Patrick Swayze's passing, come and see him in one of his most memorable roles on the big outdoor screen in a picturesque park setting. Then on Saturday, help defend the Earth against alien invasion with a rare, big screen Technicolor presentation of the original '50s sci-fi epic The War of the Worlds. Why not go intergalactic and come dressed as a B movie alien? Each evening, there is food & drink and traditional cinema refreshments available, including popcorn and ice cream, served from our themed café. Both nights Cinema Café opens at 7pm. Presentations of art & sport short films from 7.45pm. Main feature from 8pm. Cost: Free. Please bring waterproofs and rugs to sit on. Please don't bring umbrellas as they may obstruct views. Be Moved by Art - Saturday 18 September On Saturday, our Family Arts Café will be serving both lunch and delicious cream teas. As well as tantalising your taste buds, there are some fun creative activities, displays of artwork from the Chelmsford Arts Trail, a giant Olympic-inspired art scroll and a Show & Share session hosted by local visual art group Activate. Arts Café from 11am. Art Scroll Handover Ceremony 12pm. Show & Share 2pm to 4pm.
Be Moved by Sport - Saturday 18 September
Blend your own smoothie using pedal power, go roller-racing with Chelmer Cycling Club, learn a new dance style, enjoy stunt bike displays, bring your bike down to the Park for free maintenance workshops and try taster sports activities.
