The ever-popular Wildlife Fun Day at Chelmsford Museum is back for its ninth year on Saturday 30 May from 10am to 5pm. With its fun and educational mix of wildlife and creative activities, Wildlife Fun Day is always a great day out for families with younger children. 14 May 2009
The 'Snakes Alive' team will be there with their creatures this year - not just snakes and lizards but also some scary looking spiders! You can handle some and even have your picture taken with them for a small fee. Also out in the park, 'Simply Owls' return with their stunning selection of birds, and photo opportunities will also be available with them. Our regular 'Essex Beekeepers' will be near the Museum's hive where you can learn about beekeeping and the vital importance of these insects. Why not try your hand at making a beeswax candle or buy some local honey? The RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds), the Essex Wildlife Trust and Rescuers Wildlife Sanctuary will also be joining the fun, to help with questions on conservation and animal welfare. There will also be lots of craft activities for little ones to try whilst mums and dads have a rest, with the Museum Friends providing light refreshments. There is no need to book, just turn up and enjoy this free family event. For more information about this and the range of other events at Chelmsford Museum, visit Chelmsford Borough Council's website at www.chelmsford.gov.uk/museums or call 01245 605700.
