Pathways, a new learning guide published by the Chelmsford Partnership, aims to help Chelmsford people gain more workplace skills and qualifications to improve their employment prospects, particularly when the economic recovery starts to gather pace. 13 May 2009 This 20-page informative guide is targeted to individuals as well as businesses in an effort to signpost advice on employment, skills and training. Pathways also illustrates training opportunities for companies and staff to help improve performance. Chairman of the Chelmsford Partnership Steve Packham, said: "Pathways helps give a real opportunity for Chelmsford people from 16 years onwards and businesses to take advantage of a wide range of learning opportunities to improve skills at all levels and help individuals adapt to change. It can also give businesses a chance to improve their performance by improving the training of their staff." The guide is available from 11th May and has been compiled by the Chelmsford Partnership, which brings the key stakeholders from the community together. Last year, the Partnership produced Chelmsford's Community Plan, entitled 'Chelmsford Tomorrow 2021' in which it identified "...engagement of adults in a wider range of learning opportunities ..." as a priority for action. The guide demonstrates the types of qualifications that can lead to greater opportunities in the workplace and where to undertake the necessary training. It also lists organisations and websites that offer advice and direction for those seeking work or who want to improve their skills and career prospects. Advice and direction is also given in the guide for those who want to start a business or become self-employed.
