Boys Toys '09 takes place on Sunday 14 June, 10am-5pm, and features big toys for big boys! This year, there will be helicopter rides (Kudos Aviation Ltd), monster truck rides (L.A. Monster Trux), hovercraft rides (Flying Fish Hovercraft), Essex area Jaguar Drivers' Club, RO Mid Essex TVR CC, a replica of the A-Team van, Essex Motorist Safety Group, giant Scalextric, tabletop war-gaming, CAMRA real ale beer tent and live music! Entry for this event is a recession-busting £5 per car and £2 per motorcycle. British Armed Forces and Veterans Weekend is Saturday 27 June – Sunday 28 June. Kicking off on Saturday night with the Memphis Belle Swing Band on the back lawn of Hylands House, 7.30pm – 10.30pm, this is a great concert of dance music from the Roaring Forties. Bring your own seating and a picnic and enjoy the beer tent. Advance tickets cost £15 and £12 for concessions. On the door ticket prices are £17 and £14 for concessions. Tickets can be booked through the Chelmsford Civic Theatres Box Office by calling 01245 606505. As part of the same weekend, British Armed Forces and Veterans Day is Sunday 28 June. Celebrate and remember our history and heroes on this day dedicated to veterans past and present. From 10am – 5pm, activities and attractions at Hylands include the Essex Military Vehicle Exhibition, a full-size Spitfire replica, Chindit Burma Mules and various talks and exhibitions inside Hylands House, on veteran groups and Hylands' own history during World Wars I and II. Donations from this event will go to the Veterans Associations present at the event and the charity 'Help for Heroes'. Entry to Hylands House costs £3.60 or £2.60 for concessions, while under 16s and veterans go free. Last Night of the Proms with Caprice Orchestra finishes off this great weekend on Sunday 28 June, 7.30pm – 10pm. Bring along seating and a picnic to really make the most of an evening of classical music to stir the spirit on the back lawn of Hylands House. Advanced tickets are £12, or £10 for concessions.
