Chelmsford residents affected by redundancy will soon have access to a new support service offered by Chelmsford Borough Council, in partnership with Chelmsford College, called "Redundancy Initiative : Supporting Enterprise", or R.I:S.E for short.

On Saturday 16 May, Chelmsford Sport & Athletics Centre hosted the East Region Disability Championship. The competition has been running for 14 years and this is the first year the Centre, managed by Chelmsford Borough Council, has hosted the big event.

This year, The 3foot People Festival reaches its fifth birthday and celebrates with three days of wonder for those aged under five years old. Tickets for this year's event go on sale on Tuesday 2 June 2009.

The ever-popular Wildlife Fun Day at Chelmsford Museum is back for its ninth year on Saturday 30 May from 10am to 5pm. With its fun and educational mix of wildlife and creative activities, Wildlife Fun Day is always a great day out for families with younger children.

Councillor Tony Sach was invested with the Chain of Office and became the next Mayor of Chelmsford at the Borough Council's Annual Council meeting on Wednesday 13 May 2009.
Pathways, a new learning guide published by the Chelmsford Partnership, aims to help Chelmsford people gain more workplace skills and qualifications to improve their employment prospects, particularly when the economic recovery starts to gather pace.

Chelmsford Borough Council's seventh annual Disability Sports and Arts Day took place on Saturday 9 May at the Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre, and was a huge success with around 300 people attending the event.

As one of his final duties in office as Mayor of Chelmsford, Councillor Tom Willis presented his chosen charities, Chelmsford Samaritans and Chelmsford Mencap, with a cheque for £8,000 each - and that was just for the money collected so far.

Chelmsford Borough Council is supporting 'Noise Action Week 2009' - an annual initiative that aims to raise awareness of the problems caused by noise and the solutions available to tackle it. This year, Noise Action Week is Monday 18 to Friday 22 May.

This July, 'The Fling', a mini festival of wonders exclusively for adults, returns to Chelmsford on Saturday 4 July, between 4pm - 11pm, in Central Park. The event presents residents and visitors with an intriguing alternative to the usual night out on the town including music, cabaret and curiosities.
